Nanlite PavoSlim vs Monolights / My thoughts and review
In this video I go over my thoughts and review of Nanlite's NEW PavoSlim series lights, compared to their monolights. I go over the pros and cons to each as well as pricing in an effort to help you decide if the PavoSlim lights are worth the investment for you. Spoiler alert: I absolutely love these lights and use them every single week.

Shot Recreation from DON'T BREATHE / ShotDeck contest

For ShotDeck’s shot recreation contest I decided to recreate a shot from the Hollywood movie “Don’t Breathe.” This video breaks down what I did and my thought process on how to achieve a similar result to the frame in the actual movie. I experimented using the Forza 60C and the Pavotube 15x. See below for links. Nanlite Forza 60C - www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1703680-REG/nanlite_forza60c_for...
You need this DJI RS2 RING GRIP!!! - Digitalfoto Review

Recently I was able to get my hands on the RS2 Ring Grip Pro combo from Digitalfoto. I had been looking and researching for a ring grip to use with my rs2. I was looking for alternate versions of the Tilta Advanced Ring Grip when I came across this one. Looking at the price point vs build quality, I chose to go with this version since it’s less than HALF the price of the Advanced Ring grip. The...

We recreated a scene from Ad Astra / Behind the Scenes
Переглядів 6682 роки тому
We decided to recreate the Lighting from the message to dad scene in the movie Ad Astra! I really liked the two tone lighting between the background and Brad Pitt so I decided to give it a whirl! We used the Nanlite Forza 300B and some unbleached muslin for my key, and the Nanlite Pavotubes 15X to give that red/orange light to the background. My camera positioning was slightly off, and the prof...

Scene Recreation / Knives Out [Shot on Red Komodo]
Seems like the a7sii is the winner. The a7ii was consistenly 2-3 clicks darker in every shot, which means you would have to drop iso, just to match brightness, which means you would then be shooting worse iq.
I swear by the Red Cameras - We bought our first Red Scarlet MX - in 2012. We Filmed 2 Multi-award Films with them. And earned even a Best Cinematography award. The power of red Is real
where can I find the luts it's not available
Great!!
Love you!
Looking into these. Price and features are spot on IMO.
Did you film this coffee video in log format? and then painted it?
That's pretty good. Pretty close. Loved seeing that you actually built the background. I think you could painted very thin brown lines on the white 2x4s to add more texture to the "door window" frame. Your's just looks white and flat compared to the actual frame. And for more specific lighting tweaks you could have made. You should have used neg. fill closer to your body. A floppy or a few flags to shape the shadows on the face, chest and arms. Also, you probably should've had a second smaller source on the other shoulder side to get the rim lighting inside of using the power window to illuminate the right shoulder. Just brightening with a power window doesn't match the actual frame's lighting for the right shoulder due to the specular highlights on the rim of his skin. Also by illuminating that spot, the black square behind you to the right felt more fake because now it was more of a gray gradient instead of just black for that one square in the window. But those are nit-picky. With what you had and made due to with, it turned out great!
Actually I realized. You should've pushed your light tube and stand like a third of a foot. That would created deeper shadows on the face, shirt, and arms as well as illuminated both shoulders better as rim lighting. However, the background would have been more illuminated and you would have to use more gaff tape to skirt the tube from lighting the wall. Also, I think the actually shot was graded with a little more blue in the green lighting. You got really, really close though. Just very small tweaks and I think you could have nailed it even closer.
*third of a foot behind you.
Well, it's recreating a shot from scene not the whole scene. However, still pretty solid stuff. You toned the lighting quite closely to the actual shot Daniel Craig. Only difference I would have made with your set-up would have been to bring the neg. fill on the right side of your face a hair bit closer. I think someone else mentioned that the K:F ratio was ever so slightly off. Other than that, great stuff. To really push your lighting, you should try some shots that light the whole scene, not just one single of one of the subjects. I know you might not have enough people to stand in for however many actors are in the scene, but learning how to light the entire space and then tweak the lighting for closer shots goes miles for you.
The figures for the offset didn't center the image correctly? Any idea why? Sequence is in 4k
Best review/test of this Wavo Plus.. so glad I ordered it now! And.. got it for $80 brand new on Mercari🫡💪🏽
I've had my Sony A7iii since they first came out. It's been a good camera for photographing weddings, events, etc. I had to replace the motor once at a tune of $750. I sent my camera back with auto focus issues. The problems have snowballed from there on. I went to shoot an event at the beach yesterday and God and behold I got the dreaded message “Error. Turn power off and then on". I tried turning off and on my camera, I changed lenses, removed the battery to no avail. I am glad I had my Sony A6000 with me as it saved the day. I need to replace my camera and I am not sure if I want another Sony or move on to a Nikon. I was a Canon girl for years and decided on a lighter gear is why I changed to Sony. Unfortunately, I have a wedding next Saturday (today is Sunday) and I am a crossroads as to what to do. I also have several paid events in May . Any ideas as to what to do? I've never photographed with a Nikon and don't know the learning curve on them. Thanx for reading my plea for help!
thank you so much, but the color changed when I transfer into my phone, please help🙏
Thanks for this, was having a hard time figuring out how to custom set the kelvin, under custom settings i couldn't seem to do anything but move the colors, not the kelvin. Many other videos fixate on the setting a custom white balance by using the auto detect but i just wanted the simple feature to manually dial it and surely a camera would have that lo. anyways feel dumb for overlooking the setting but happy to know it now
Awesome 👌
Hey what about adding a different raw picture profile in general? When I do these steps my Register button is greyed out.
Thank you!!! Watched 10 other videos before anyone showed this.
Good for handheld ?
Great stuff, thanks man! :)
bro its really good work
45000 kbps ?????? prob more like 12000 , compression will be too big and h.265 is not really supported , better choose h.264
Waiting for the 240c to be released soon and will likely pick up a couple.
Wow well done bro, very much appreciated 👍.
Appreciated for your opinions, the mention of "kidney" is a good one, haha!
Was just looking up how much I could get for my kidney… thanks for the helpful info!
If you had to pick: 1 PavoSlim light or 1 Monolight - which would you use more?
thanks for this... for some reason when i go to look file set up, the option to register stays grey? not sure why? thanks
Great for shooting indoor sports - fantastic info 💥
Lens?
Could you tell me if the Bowen’s mount is plastic or metal? Can it hold something heavy like a 150 Octabox? Also is the yolk strong enough to hold a huge soft box like the lightdome etc. And last question how is the fan noise compared to your other lights.
Great information
i have 2 of these and not very bright and the fan is a bit loud
They aren't bright? What are you comparing them to?
I just got one in and these are brighter than the Aputure 600x.
interesting, I have some 150w godoxs. thinking of upgrading to these
Must be something wrong with your units, I use mine on location both near to regular power supply and also using portable, UK plug socket power packs and use them to overpower daylight or as a replacement for sunlight through windows and a whole range of other uses. Certainly never had any issues with power output from these lights. Measured them up against the Forza 500b II and didn't really find any difference. They were more powerful than the Aputure 600x units all my nanlite gear replaced.
@@BoomingVisualshi, how much of Nanlite do you use or how often?
Great Video Justin! I have a Canon EOS RP, do I need a lens mount adapter to use this lens? Thanks,
Did this and it still didn't work for me
This video is great. You're a very smart man for choosing that background music as well. It's relaxing not distracting and perfect to keep you focused on your video and now I will continue to watch lol
Hi, do you think fan noise can be an issue with Nanlite FC-500B for interviews?
What camera brand you are using
Yes it really was
Question - Sony A7r3 & R5- I set my white balance to 5600K but when I import to LR it shows as 5050 with a tint of +10 - what am I doing wrong?
Inscrito👍
20 stops of dynamic range at 16 bit color RAW that is freaking crazy! RED Cameras never die, just goes immortal!
Can I get the link for this emotional graphics
I paid for the EOSHD and it was crap, so stick to this one, great video really helped me
Thanks for this video, this was a huge help for a newbie like me getting started shooting in vlog
not usefull this video😢
very good info. I wonder in all the work flows, dehancer node will come as a last node after all CC work is done?
Amazing
other than the nice f2.8, i found that this lens is not that much different from the kit lens and it was not worth the 1.5k price tag when the kit lens can do pretty much the same thing. Idk why people hyping up this lens so much
How did you record the audio?
Thanks for sharing in such detail!!🥰
